The Fourth Wall is pleased to present a solo show of recent work by Devon McKnight, a North Carolina painter with Bay Area ties. The paintings in this exhibition are a continuation of a decade-long exploration of form and color in space. McKnight's early installations functioned by activating the space within a room, creating a kind of charge between objects. These panels and watercolors explore the same formal issues within autonomous works. But, as discussed in the catalog interview, they are not made in isolation but in relation to one another. In curating In the Absence of Others, it is our intent to focus on those relationships. This exhibition was curated by Marlene Angeja.
